๐Ÿ”’ Privacy Policy

How EddiesLife247 โ€” the website and the "Betsy" Discord bot โ€” collects, uses, and protects your information.

Last updated: 1 September 2026

1. Who we are

EddiesLife247 ("we", "us", "the community") operates the website at eddieslife247.co.uk, the associated Discord server, and a Discord bot called "Betsy" that connects the Discord server, Twitch chat, and YouTube comments together. This policy covers the website and Betsy. It doesn't cover Discord, Twitch, YouTube, or Google themselves โ€” those are separate services with their own privacy policies, linked below.

2. What information we collect

We collect information in a few different ways, depending on what you actually do:

  • Browsing the site: if you're just reading pages, we don't collect anything beyond standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) that most hosting providers keep automatically for security and troubleshooting.
  • Contacting us: the contact form collects your name, email address, subject, and message so we can reply to you.
  • Logging in with Discord: see the dedicated section below.
  • Linking Twitch or YouTube: see the dedicated section below.
  • Using the points shop: your points balance, transaction history, and shop redemption history, tied to your Discord ID.

3. Logging in with Discord

When you click "Log in with Discord" on the Betsy page, Discord asks you to approve the connection, then sends us your Discord user ID, username, and avatar. We store these in your browser session (a temporary, server-side session tied to a cookie) for as long as you're logged in, and Betsy's own database permanently stores your Discord user ID against your points balance and any linked accounts โ€” the same way it already does for anyone using the bot directly in Discord.

We never see or store your Discord password โ€” the login happens entirely on Discord's own site.

4. Linking Twitch and YouTube accounts

If you choose to link a Twitch or YouTube account (either via the website's "Link with Twitch/YouTube" buttons, or the /link-twitch and /link-youtube Discord commands), we store:

  • Your Twitch user ID and username, or
  • Your YouTube channel ID and channel name

โ€” tied to your Discord user ID, so points earned by chatting on Twitch or commenting on YouTube can be credited to the right person. We do not store Twitch or Google access tokens after the linking step completes; they're used once, to confirm your identity, and then discarded. You can unlink either account at any time from the Betsy page or by asking a staff member.

5. Community points and the shop

Betsy tracks a points balance for community members, earned through activity (chatting, streaming engagement, etc.) and spendable in an in-server shop. We keep a transaction history (what was earned or spent, when, and why) and a redemption history (what you've claimed from the shop and whether staff have fulfilled it) against your Discord user ID. This data is used only to run the points system and resolve disputes about balances โ€” see our Terms of Service for how the points system itself works.

6. Cookies and sessions

The Betsy pages use a single session cookie to keep you logged in after Discord authentication. It contains a random session identifier, not your personal data directly, and expires when you log out or after a period of inactivity. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and Anthropic/Claude products used to build this site don't add any either.

7. Third-party services

Parts of the site rely on external services, each with their own privacy practices:

  • Discord โ€” login, community hosting. Discord's Privacy Policy
  • Twitch โ€” live stream embed, account linking, live-status checks. Twitch's Privacy Notice
  • Google / YouTube โ€” account linking, video embeds. Google's Privacy Policy
  • Ko-fi โ€” support/donations, handled entirely on Ko-fi's own site. Ko-fi's Privacy Policy
  • Google Fonts โ€” used to load the site's typeface.
  • decapi.me โ€” a third-party service used to check whether the Twitch stream is currently live, for the "live now" banner.

We don't control these services and aren't responsible for their practices โ€” please check their own policies if you have concerns.

8. Google API Services User Data Policy

EddiesLife247's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: YouTube channel data obtained during account linking (channel ID and channel name only) is used solely to associate your YouTube identity with your Discord account for the community points system, is never sold, and is never used for advertising.

9. How long we keep data

Points balances, transaction history, and linked-account records are kept for as long as you're part of the community, so your history and balance stay intact between visits. If you leave the Discord server or ask us to delete your data, we'll remove your linked-account records and points history on request (see "Your rights" below) โ€” some minimal record (e.g. that a points adjustment happened) may be kept in server logs for a limited time for anti-abuse purposes.

10. Your rights and choices

You can, at any time:

  • Unlink your Twitch or YouTube account from the Betsy page, instantly.
  • Ask us (contact details below) what data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to delete your account data, including your points balance and history โ€” note this means losing any accumulated points.
  • Stop using the website or Discord bot at any time; simply not returning removes any future data collection.

What data deletion actually means: points, the shop, suggestions and voting, giveaways, tickets, and account linking all work by Betsy tracking your Discord ID. Requesting deletion means Betsy can no longer recognise you for any of it โ€” in practice, you won't be able to earn or spend points, enter giveaways, submit or vote on suggestions, open tickets, link a Twitch/YouTube account, or take part in other Betsy-powered features, including community events run through Betsy, until you ask to be re-added. This only affects features that run through Betsy specifically โ€” it doesn't affect your ability to use Discord itself, chat, or take part in the community more broadly. You can ask to be re-enabled at any time; this restores your ability to use these features going forward, though it doesn't bring back data that was already deleted.

If you're in the UK or EU, you have additional rights under UK/EU data protection law (including access, correction, deletion, and complaint to a supervisory authority) โ€” we'll honour requests made under these rights on the same basis as above.

11. Children's privacy

Discord's own terms require users to be at least 13 (or the minimum age in your country). This site and Betsy follow the same minimum. Some parts of the community (the Clash RP FiveM server) are 18+ only, as noted where relevant. We don't knowingly collect data from children under these minimum ages; if you believe a child has provided us data in breach of this, contact us and we'll remove it.

12. Security

We take real, specific technical measures to protect your data โ€” not just a general promise:

  • Your Discord ID is encrypted at rest. Everywhere Betsy stores your Discord user ID โ€” points, linked accounts, tickets, personal notes, ban appeals, moderation history, and more โ€” it's encrypted before being saved, using a dedicated encryption key kept completely separate from the database itself. Even if the database were ever accessed by someone who shouldn't have it, this data isn't readable without that separate key.
  • Profile pictures don't reveal your Discord ID. Avatar images on the Portal load through a private proxy rather than linking directly to Discord's own image servers, whose web addresses would otherwise contain your numeric Discord ID.
  • The leaderboard and activity feed don't expose other members' Discord IDs. You'll see who's who by name and picture, same as always โ€” the underlying data just no longer hands out anyone's raw ID as part of that.
  • Our backend server's internal address is never exposed to anyone browsing the site.
  • Account-linking proof-of-ownership โ€” via OAuth or a one-time verification code โ€” so nobody can claim another person's Twitch or YouTube account as their own.
  • A private API key between the website and the bot, never sent to your browser.
  • No storage of third-party passwords or long-lived Twitch/Google access tokens โ€” see the sections above.
  • Secure session cookies (HTTPOnly, Secure, SameSite) for staying logged in, so your session can't be read or hijacked by a script on another site.

No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security โ€” but we take it seriously, review it periodically, and will notify affected users if we become aware of a data breach affecting them.

13. What the Betsy support team can and can't do

Server staff and Betsy's owner/admin team have real access to parts of your data in order to run the community and provide support โ€” this section explains exactly what that means.

Server staff (moderators/admins) can, within their own server only:

  • View your points balance, activity history, and achievements.
  • View your moderation history (warnings, mutes, kicks, bans) and any staff notes about you.
  • Adjust your points, and take moderation actions (warn/mute/kick/ban).
  • View and manage tickets, suggestions, giveaways, and shop redemptions.
  • Reply to your ban appeal or support request.

Betsy's owner/admin team can additionally, across every server Betsy operates in:

  • See which servers Betsy is in, and their configuration (e.g. whether Twitch/YouTube integrations are set up) โ€” not the content of your messages or activity within them.
  • Bot-ban or suspend an account across every server, in response to abuse (see the Terms of Service for what this means).
  • Send announcements to all servers Betsy operates in.

What nobody on the support team can do:

  • Read your Discord ID directly from the database โ€” it's encrypted at rest (see Security above); support tools work with it through the bot, not by reading the raw database.
  • Access another server's member data unless they're part of Betsy's owner/admin team specifically โ€” regular server staff are scoped to their own server only.
  • See your linked Twitch/YouTube account's password or session โ€” only that an account is linked, via the same OAuth process you approved.
  • Recover data you've asked to have deleted โ€” once it's gone (see "Your rights and choices" above), it's genuinely gone, for staff and owners alike.
  • Read the DMs or private messages you send Betsy for support beyond what's needed to handle that specific request โ€” see below for how DM-based support works.

If you message Betsy directly (DM) to request support, the bot will ask you a few short questions (which server it's about, what kind of issue, and a description) before passing your request to that server's staff team, along with basic context about your membership in that server (your roles/permissions there, and whether you're the server's owner) so staff can help you faster. This exists as a structured alternative to DMing staff directly, which most servers using Betsy ask members not to do.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site and bot change. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top when we do. Significant changes will be flagged in the Discord server.

15. Contact
